I had such a crush on Michael Landon when he was playing Little Joe on Bonanza. I had his pictures plastered all over my wall. He was my teen idol. After Bonanza ended I watched all his other programs and TV movies, but for me he will always be Little Joe. He left this world way too soon, but he will never be forgotten. RIP Michael.

I have to admit that I never watched any of Michael Landon’s shows when I was young. I thought of Little House as a ‘girl’s’ show and by the time Highway to Heaven came on the air I was in college and watching shows like Miami Vice. Well all that has changed now that I am a father of three little girls who absolutely adore Little House and Highway to Heaven. Watching these shows with my daughters has given me a true appreciation for Mr. Landon’s work and his commitment to creating wholesome family entertainment that could be watched and enjoyed by children and their parents together as a family. I wasn’t able to express my appreciation to him during his lifetime so I wish to pass on to his family my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Landon for the quality family-oriented programming he created for all of us to enjoy for years to come.

Whilst growing up in a troubled home I escaped for a wee hour watching Little House on the Prairie. I always wanted to be wee Scrappy Laura and wished Charles was my dad!
With every episode there was something to learn and take away with you in your heart to be as good a person as you can be and to look after your fellow man, well that’s what I got out of them. You could guarantee you would be crying along with the Ingalls when they cried and laughing when they laughed. I always had tissues near me!
I have a one year old baby girl and I am on a mission to collect all the Little House episodes so she too can grow up with these wonderful stories! But secretly they are for me too!
Michael Landon gave so much happiness and joy to the world, why do the good die young? The world needs more people like him and his great friend Victor French for sure!
I know he wasn’t perfect, but who is? He fought to the very end with great dignity and strength. I for one salute you and thank you for all the years I enjoyed your work.
