Michael Landon

When my wife and I heard there was a web site where we could write down some of our feelings about what an impact Michael Landon has left on us, we knew that we had something to say. Both of us many years ago started out watching Bonanza. We still watch it thanks to TV Land. Now that we have watched Little House and Highway to Heaven, Bonanza means so much more to us because we see Michael in his youth. He was such a natural actor and he had that patented laugh that he always kept through three shows. Bonanza may have launched Michael's career but we feel that he saved the best for last. We watch Little House every night on TV Land. Some of these shows, like when James got shot and Michael built an altar to the Lord and James got healed. You’re sitting in your living room with tears in your eyes. Another thing we really liked about Michael was he would use actors that may have fallen on hard times. That episode where Laura (Melissa Gilbert) goes up to the mountain and Ernest Borgnine told her that this was his mountain and he tells her to pray. Then a couple days later Charles shows up and they hug. I mean, your heart just melts. Another important thing is that Michael Landon cared for his family in real life just like he did in Little House on the Prairie. I really feel that he was blessed by God because all of these shows had such a powerful message and he would write some of these episodes in a weekend. He also had a great sense of humor. I remember the episode where Laura is given the billy goat and it bucks ‘Charles’ right out of the barn. At first when we heard of Michael blowing up the set of Little House we were a little confused. But then we felt he was one hundred percent right because that show was so special that the set should never be used for anything else. Now when we said Michael saved the best for last…we meant it. Highway to Heaven is such a moving and powerful show. We really feel that Michael really perfected his work. And we also feel that he had a strong influence on Victor French who also was a gifted actor. We believe that anyone who watched Highway to Heaven was touched by Michael. He certainly put together shows which were probably very true to life for many people. We cannot think of any other person who even comes close to accomplishing what Michael Landon did in his life. He truly was a gifted person. We believe he was the most talented person in the history of TV. He is truly missed by us all. Thank you Michael Landon for all the wonderful shows and the memories.

From across the world, I've only known Michael Landon from his Little House on the Prairie drama series. After all these years, the character and messages from the series has left a deep impact on me. Few weeks back, I've been watching re-runs of the Little House on the Prairie series...and truly, Michael carries such a commendable character; a good man. That is so rare these days.
