I don't know if words can adequately express just how much admiration I have for Michael Landon. I've been a fan of his programs for many years. From the feisty Little Joe, who could melt hearts with that million dollar smile, to Charles Ingalls, the consummate father figure. And let us not forget Jonathan Smith, that Angel who could still show that he too was human.
Michael's shows brought a warmth to television that we cannot find today. He tackled topics that some were afraid to touch. But that was Michael, he was never afraid to show his true feelings. All the quotes he has left us show us exactly how he felt, whether you agreed with him or not. He didn't talk out of both sides of his mouth - he said what he felt no matter what the consequences. I wish more people today would be as direct.
I know that he was not a saint by any means, but who is? He was a man who endured a horrible childhood to make something of himself. He worked hard to attain what he achieved. Writing, producing, directing - it took alot for him to learn all of the facets of television. But it made him appreciate the hard work that all involved in the business did - and made him the compassionate boss he was. He would not ask anyone who worked for him to do more than he'd ask of himself. That he had the same crew working for him on all of his shows is a testament to the man and how much he was loved by so many.
I am sure that he'd be proud of the successes his children have attained in these past 16 years. His family meant so very much to him, and from the many pictures I've seen of him with his children, I think it's safe to say that he adored them all.
I'd like to conclude by saying 'Thanks' to Michael for all of the hours of love and laughter he's left us in the programs we are still able to watch today. And to thank him for teaching me how valuable life is, and to cherish every minute. His presence in the world has made it a better place.

I have loved Michael Landon since the Bonanza days. Michael gave so much of himself in all of his work. I so looked forward to his series US because I knew it would be more of the same, brilliant work from a caring and brilliant man. His sensitivity, his compassion and friendliness, just his deep concern for mankind is and was unmatched. He is unique and wonderful and I miss him deeply. What a sad loss the world suffered on July 1, 1991. Michael we love you and will remember you always...your legacy lives on in all of the hearts of those who love you.
