To Michael,

I never knew you, but you touched my life in so many ways. The beliefs you held as a person showed through in your works and I think that is what drew me to you. I started watching Little House as a little girl. Every day in school I couldn't wait to get home and watch the show with my mom. Not only were you such a handsome man (of course I had a crush on him, who didn't?), but the characters you portrayed, the episodes you wrote and directed, were of such quality. That is what is missing today. I would much rather watch any episode of Bonanza, Little House or Highway to Heaven than any current show on TV. It's so unfortunate that the world didn't get to see you grow old gracefully and I am saddened that we will never see anything else from such a talented man. We are fortunate that his legacy does live on in the people that are here now, and won't ever let the rest of the world forget what a truly wonderful, remarkable human being he was. Thank you for everything good you ever did, and for making me feel that there are other people in this world that are good and will stand up for themselves or anyone else when the right thing needs to be done. God bless you and your family. Happy Birthday!

My English is not very good, but I will try to tell you how I feel about Michael Landon.

I am a 22 year old girl from Sweden. When I was younger my family and I watched Michael on TV. I loved Bonanza and, of course, as I read every book by Laura Ingalls Wilder I also loved his performances in Little House on the Prairie. I think about how it was for me when I lost my grandmother to the same form of cancer that took his life. I think about how much we all have lost since he went to heaven. Most of my early memories of him come from watching Little House on the Prairie. I always look for episodes with him in it from the two TV series I have seen. I never saw either series when they were new. I wasn’t even born yet. When he left this world I was only 7 years old. I didn’t have the chance to know him from his TV shows as well as I would have liked too. Instead, I always look for reruns on TV from the series we all LOVE to see that loving actor and loving person that he was. I wish I could tell him how much he meant to me. How much he gave me. One lonely child with not so many friends. He and his costars in mostly Little House on the Prairie but also Bonanza gave me friends. They were my friends, HE was my friend.

This is not all I can say, but I don’t have the words to tell how much he really meant to me or how much I would have liked to have been in Miss Gilbert’s shoes since she had the chance to know him.
