I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie and the show taught me so much about love, family, friendship, faith, honesty, and the value of a strong work ethic. When Michael passed away it was like losing a second father. I hope he knew how much his work meant and what a positive influence he and his shows had on people. And thanks to syndication and DVDs all of those wonderful life lessons in his shows will continue to have a positive influence on future generations, which seems to me to be a pretty wonderful legacy.

Little House and Michael had a tremendous effect on me as a high school history teacher, football coach and father. Everything I did and every decision I made was based on the values I drew from this emotional wonderful family show. After the episodes involving the adoption of young Albert I attended Oklahoma Department of Human Services seminars considering the possibility of adopting a kid "in need". In August of '87 I was asked to provide a day of sports leadership and activities at a common meeting place in Oklahoma City for prospective adopters and adoptees from all over the state. Even though I was not there for that reason I was asked to take care of a young 12 year old Michael C. for a few days. Nine months later he was adopted by me and he grew to also attain compassionate values by watching Little House reruns. Today son Derek (adopted name) is 31 and in his 4th year of living with the genetic disease Huntingtons for which there is no cure. It is only because of the strength I gained from Little House and most especially Michael Landon that I am able to bear this burden and remain strong while at the same time free to express the love I have for my son and him for me. Even though I have achieved high success in coaching, I thank Michael Landon for making me a loving Dad, the greatest achievement of my life

What a wonderful idea to pay tribute to the greatest actor of our time. Michael Landon touched my life in so many ways and I will never forget the day that he died. I shed tears for him that day but knowing his legacy would live on forever brought comfort to my heart. A few years ago Highway to Heaven was released on DVD. I feel Highway was Michael's crowning achievement and I am glad so many can share it now. Peace be with you Michael, I don’t think there is a day that goes by where you are not missed. God Bless!
