I met Michael when I auditioned for Highway to Heaven. He was crouched down in the corner of the casting director’s office, peering through his fingers as though they were a camera lens. He was watching, listening, and observing with an intense focus, and when he gave me direction it was quiet, direct and respectful. I was thrilled when my agent called to tell me that I would be working with him! On the set of Highway to Heaven, Michael sat with the actors and shared stories in-between takes. During the course of the filming, he had a realization that this particular episode, "Love and Marriage," involving three generations of family, deserved more time. He picked up the phone, called the network, got the okay to extend the length of the episode, and then set to work writing more pages for us. It was magical and miraculous working with him, just like the show itself. I have to say that working with Michael Landon, an angel onscreen as well as off, was truly one of the highlights of my career.
